Because of the support and generosity of people like you, we are excited to launch a North Carolina chapter--to extend our reach to the families in the Charlotte area who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. The launch is March 27, when we welcome our new Executive Director, Amanda Austin. Amanda will be hiring a Program Manager, and preparing our ongoing calendar of events in hopes of enrolling families in June 2023. Each year in the United States, approximately 500,000 children cope with life-threatening medical conditions. These conditions affect the entire family with more than half of parents suffering from acute stress disorders and 80% of siblings having elevated levels of post-traumatic stress. 55 Your Impact September 2001 HopeKids begins in Phoenix, Arizona March 2017 Kansas City chapter launches February 2016 Colorado chapter launches May 2013 North Texas chapter launches November 2006 Minnesota chapter launches HopeKids serves 4,069 families and growing HopeKids provides over 1,000 events annually HopeKids is a chance to enjoy life, a chance to be free from burdens temporarily and a chance to be in a community that truly gets it. ” “ - STARLET, GABRIELLA’S MOM March 2019 Middle Tennessee chapter launches HopeKids launches a virtual program, out of necessity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
