She enjoys singing, dancing and playing with her Barbies. Daleyza loves watching princess movies and recently attended a virtual story time with princesses event. Daleyza’s family joined HopeKids in 2019 and their favorite event was Disney on Ice. “HopeKids has helped us escape our reality of isolation. It is also incredible to be able to connect with other families who know what our day-to-day is like. Having professional photos taken was such a beautiful experience for us. These photos capture different stages during her treatment that one day we will be able to look back on and tell her ‘YOU DID IT!’ They will help us to show her that, at such a young age, she overcame such a big obstacle and always maintained her beautiful smile. We hope one day when Daleyza is older these photos will help her push forward when she feels she cannot get something done. Having these photos is also a reminder to us as parents that it is okay to smile and that everything will be okay!” - Katherine, Daleyza’s mom Photos by: Stephanie Fassler Photography, Colorado3 4 6 8 10 Featured StoryFeatured Story exploring impact and the hope you provide Event HighlightsEvent Highlights finding community virtually Fundraising EventsFundraising Events a recap of the most recent Virtual ProgrammingVirtual Programming creative events families have on their calendar4 YOUR SUPPORT PROVIDES an ongoing calendar of free events that focus on five research-driven impact areas to ease the journey for families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. EXPLORING IMPACT:5 COMMUNITY & SUPPORT Tabatha met Lindsey, Lily’s mom, after introducing herself in the HopeKids family forum online. After chatting, they discovered that their daughters both were similar in age and both had cancer. Lily’s hair was starting to grow back and Raven had just lost hers. They pointed to each other’s heads and hugged. The girls had an instant bond. Tabatha and Lindsey are convinced that their girls will be friends for life and are so thankful for the sense of community that HopeKids fostered. Through the online family forum and now attending events together, these two moms support each other through this journey with their daughters. Tabatha explains how valuable it is for both of them to have someone who “gets it.” HOPE & ANTICIPATION “I have been a monthly contributor to HopeKids since I first learned of the organization. I have several friends who have children with special needs, or have faced childhood cancer or other medical conditions, so I’m intimately aware of some of the smaller challenges that these families face. Often, their finances are devoured by the cost of accommodations and/or treatments. Their invisible load is always too heavy, and the opportunity to participate in a fun activity that most of us take for granted can have a lasting positive and restorative impact on their whole family--especially when they don’t have to plan the event or pay for it! Knowing that I can help provide that for families month after month brings me joy!” - Brooke, Hope365 Monthly Donor ECONOMIC SUPPORT “HopeKids has given our family opportunities to take Miela on adventures that make us feel comfortable and safe. HopeKids has also afforded us the opportunity to take all five family members to a unique range of events that we normally wouldn’t be budgeting. We are so grateful for these adventures.” - Carie, Miela’s mom FAMILY FOCUS “Serving the HopeKids community is hands-down some of the most rewarding work that I do as a photographer. I love having the opportunity to pour love and joy into these families. One of my favorite aspects is that the ‘pouring’ can look very different within the family. It can be giving a HopeKid some confidence in their appearance during the shoot, spending an extra few minutes on a sibling that sometimes feels over-shadowed, or when Mom opens their gallery of images and falls in love with their photos. I believe that the goal is not just pretty family pictures. The goal is to provide the entire family with a stress-free and joyful family portrait experience!” - Stephanie, Stephanie Fassler Photography, Program Partner SAFETY & ACCEPTANCE “My 7-year-old grandson Bentley was born at 31 weeks with multiple complications, several of which have been life-threatening. I cannot say enough about how HopeKids has helped Bently and his family feel less isolated, more vibrant and a part of the community. It gives them comfort, recognition, compassion, and encouragement when most of the world quickly passes by or, worse yet, stares.” - Ward, Donor 66 This was our first COVID HopeKids event and we were so excited! We were having a really tough time being different lately and when she hears HopeKids, she gets so excited to be part of it. - Lindsay, Berlynn’s mom “ ” Cross Timbers Church hosted a back-to-school event where each HopeKid and sibling received a $75 Target gift card to purchase school supplies. The drive-thru pick up event also included lunch and cotton candy for all in the car. We support HopeKids because it’s an amazing organization and a great team to partner with! We love giving hope to the families and the smile on the kids’ faces are the BEST! - Jennifer Shepard, Cross Timbers HopeCenter Pastor and Assistant Director “ ”7 Photos by: Stephanie Fassler Photography, Colorado To me, getting family photos done was so special because we don’t know how much time Hannah has left, so being able to capture us how we are now is such a gift. It is also so great to have something to get out and do as a family and to have a fun memory to share with others, instead of only sharing when times are hard. - Wanda, Hannah’s mom “ ” HopeKids has given us so many fun times and so much hope. We’ve been blessed to attend in-person and virtual events. The kids are always so excited when the new month’s calender is posted. Virtually, we’ve met so many new families and have so much fun doing so! Having professional photos taken was one of my favorite events because we get to keep this time of life as a memory. - Rosalinda, Evelyn’s mom “ ” Family Portrait Day preserving memories8 SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR PROGRAM PARTNERS Fundraising Events in review Colorado Charity Golf Classic • June 22nd • $88,100 The Coleberry Tournament • August 3rd • Minnesota • $73,896 Kansas City Charity Golf Classic • August 24th • $34,000 Hope K • August 29th • Minnesota • $92,385 Middle Tennessee Charity Golf Classic • August 31st • $60,000 North Texas Charity Golf Classic • September 9th • $87,950 Thank you for your participation and generosity during these challenging times.
