< PreviousWith a little help from some of our friends, we want to say: “Thank you”. Thank you to the donors, volunteers and program partners who provide hope - even virtually!HOPEDAY PROGRAM HopeKids provides ongoing events and activities for families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Each month we schedule a variety of sporting events, live entertain- ment, museum visits, or other types of fun activities for the whole family. We focus on five research-driven impact areas to ease the jour- ney for families who are walking through the hardest time in their lives: Hope and Anticipation to keep kids looking forward to the next fun event around the corner. Family-Focused events bring the family together and prevent siblings from being unintentionally overlooked. Community and Support fosters lasting relationships among people who share similar challenges. Safety and Acceptance through HopeKids’ supportive peer community where no child is the only one wearing a mask or using a wheelchair. Economic Support through free events because all families are seriously impacted by overwhelming medical costs. HOPECOMMUNITY PROGRAM HopeKids events work to foster a support community among families who “get it”. Our HopeCommunity program intentionally builds intimate events to bring together families struggling with similar diagnoses or who live in proximity to each other. These events focus on providing opportunities for families to deepen relationships and build a strong support network at a time when they need it most. Recent studies show that parents who have a child with cancer often fear the complete loss of hope because it would be like giving up on their child and a future with their child. In addition, 59 percent of siblings of a cancer patient showed new externalizing behaviors such as acting out at home or school, fighting, drug use, increased sibling rivalry, and lower frustration tolerance. Twenty-six percent showed new internalizing behaviors such as worry, anxiety, depression, sleeping, or eating problems. Adolescent siblings of children with cancer who have low social support tended to be perceived as being more anxious and having more behavior problems than adolescents with high social support. Support, love, and encouragement are all necessary for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition. Our community of children and their families get to know each other, encourage, and support each other. We have children who are newly diagnosed, children who are in the midst of difficult treatment, and children who are healed and now healthy. One of the most inspiring moments is when a child who has just been diagnosed with a particular condition meets a child who has been healed from that same condition. You can almost see their hope restored as they realize that this is a battle they can win. OUR PROGRAMS “HopeKids has been such a blessing to our family. Times have been so hard for many people, including our family. Not only have we been dealing with the craziness of the world over the past year, we have had multiple health scares and surgeries for our HopeKid. These events bring so much joy to us and allow our family to forget about the stressors of life. We can truly enjoy life to the fullest, even if for just an evening.” - Jen, Orion’s mom Program Costs HopeDay: $2,238,784 HopeCommunity: $736,170 *From 2020 Form 990VOLUNTEERS all HopeKids acr oss chapters donated 3,643 HOURS in 2020 to families who have a medical condition child with a life-threatening2020///////////// Number of FamiliesNumber of EventsNumber of Attendees ARIZONA 1,46153512,413 COLORADO 6563556,580 KANSAS CITY 4213836,870 MIDDLE TENNESSEE 1361531,610 MINNESOTA 1,53667312,117 NORTH TEXAS 1,0495298,488 TOTAL 5,2592,62848,078 Arizona | 74 Colorado | 54 Kansas City | 38 Middle Tennessee | 30 Minnesota | 68 North Texas | 84 = 5 Families in review New Families EnrolledASSETS 20202019 CURRENT ASSETS Cash and Cash Equivalents$ 2,275,757$ 2,008,904 Investments780,581863,379 Contributions Receivable39,78924,895 Prepaid Expenses and Other Assets18,64749,682 Total Current Assets3,129,8702,970,935 PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT, NET15,09624,075 TOTAL ASSETS $ $3,114,774$ 2,946,860 LIABILITIES AND NET ASSETS CURRENT LIABILITIES Total Liabilities$ 24,259$ 52,285 NET ASSETS Without Donor Restrictions2,746,5402,355,647 With Donor Restrictions359,071563,003 Total Net Assets3,105,6112,918,650 TOTAL LIABILITIES AND NET ASSETS $ 3,129,870$ 2,970,935 Statements of Financial Position December 31, 2020 and 2019Statements of Activities December 31, 2020 and 2019 Without Donor Restrictions With Donor RestrictionsTotal 2020 Without Donor Restrictions With Donor RestrictionsTotal 2019 SUPPORT AND REVENUES Contributions$ 1,960,532$ 46,084 $ 2,006,616$ 1,803,854$ 560,611 $ 2,364,465 Special Event Income, Less Direct Donor Benefit of $163,388 and $199,259, Respectively369,515-369,515435,393-435,393 Contributed Goods and Services1,384,473-1,384,4732,684,686-2,684,686 Investment Income, Net31,545-31,54573,932-73,932 Other19,184-19,184453-453 Net Assets Released from Restrictions250,016(250,016)-244,531(244,531)- Total Support and Revenues4,015,265(203,932)3,811,3335,242,849316,0805,558,929 EXPENSES Program Services$ 2,989,003- $ 2,989,003$ 4,369,791- $ 4,369,791 Management and General304,083-304,083280,157-280,157 Fundraising331,286-331,286460,378-460,378 Total Expenses3,624,372-3,624,3725,110,326-5,110,326 CHANGE IN NET ASSETS390,893(203,932)186,961132,523316,080448,603 NET ASSETS, BEGINNING OF YEAR2,355,647563,0032,918,6502,223,124246,9232,470,047 NET ASSETS, END OF YEAR $ 2,746,540$ 359,071 $ 3,105,611$ 2,355,647 $ 563,003 $ 2,918,650HOPE IS A POWERFUL MEDICINE.Next >
